Spring has Sprung 2019

Hey there, I just wanted to touch base & let everyone know that we have been busy and anxiously awaiting for the last frost date to come and go so we can get everything out of the greenhouse and into the field.

Fortunately the weather has been warm enough I was able to get a few rows tilled up.  The bulbs I pre-sprouted have made their way outside as did the pussy willow, ilex and forsythia (I call these permanents).  More bulbs and permanents should be arriving anytime. Within a few years they should be well established and we can enjoy the harvest.

A quick update on bees….delivery has been delayed by a few weeks and they have limited the amount of bees you can order.  Luckily, my father-in-law is coming to the rescue and is making splits off his colonies for me.  In the meantime, I got the frames and foundations assembled.

Now we just wait.  Once the flowers are blooming we should have some happy bees.  Just a couple more weeks until we are in the frost-free zone and then the real fun begins. I can’t wait to share the upcoming progress as we get the season started.

’til next time….
